The project is focusing on pygmy seahorse conservation around Tun Sakaran Marine Parks, and two prominent islands notably Sipadan and Mabul.
The pygmy seahorses are hardly bigger than the size of a thumbnail and are found exclusively on sea fans. There are very little scientific information regarding their life cycle and ecology. The main threat to the survival of these exotic creatures is posed by recreational diving industry.
Our aim is thus to engage recreational divers and dive operators to promote responsible codes and conducts in diving thus reducing impacts to marine life. To volunteer, please click on the Pygmy Seahorse Project page for more details.
